Meet Our Partner: ValCUN
Driving Sustainable Metal Deposition in DIAMETER
From Belgium, ValCUN brings breakthrough innovation in metal additive manufacturing to the DIAMETER Project through its proprietary Molten Metal Deposition (MMD) technology — an innovative technique designed to reduce energy consumption and operational costs while maintaining high production quality.
In this interview, Arda Süren, R&D Engineer at ValCUN, explains how MMD offers a cost-efficient and energy-conscious approach to metal AM, currently focused on aluminium alloys with future developments targeting magnesium, copper, and precious metals.
ValCUN's Strategic Contribution to DIAMETER
Within the project, ValCUN represents one of the additive manufacturing technologies under evaluation. By contributing real operational data — including process parameters, energy consumption and emissions — ValCUN supports the development of a comparative framework to assess manufacturing technologies from both environmental and circularity perspectives.
Their role covers three key areas:
- MMD as an alternative AM technology within the project's technological spectrum
- Real operational and emissions data feeding into the DIAMETER platform
- Transparent cross-technology comparison based on sustainability, performance and circularity criteria
