What DIAMETER Will Deliver to Transform Circular Manufacturing
Results Update
Work in Progress – Building Impact Step by Step
DIAMETER is currently in progress. As a Horizon Europe-funded project running from 2024 to 2028, we are actively developing and validating our technical platforms, training materials, and industrial pilot applications. While final results are forthcoming, we are committed to transparency, stakeholder engagement, and early knowledge sharing.
This page outlines the expected outcomes and key deliverables that DIAMETER aims to achieve over the course of the project.
Check back regularly for updates, pilot results, and public deliverables as they are released.
Expected Results at a Glance
A Circular-by-Design Hybrid Manufacturing Framework
DIAMETER will deliver a fully validated framework for sustainable metal production that combines:
- Multiple additive manufacturing (AM) technologies
- Conventional pre- and post-processing techniques
- Circularity strategies embedded from design to end-of-life
Goal: Demonstrate up to 30% reduction in carbon emissions and 20% production time savings across selected pilot lines.
Three AI-Powered Tools for Circular Manufacturing
Under the DIAgonal digital platform, we are building and testing:
- Design for Environment Tool – for optimized, low-impact product development
- Process Planning Tool – for hybrid AM workflow optimization
- Circular Sustainability Evaluation Tool – to assess lifecycle impact, cost, and recyclability
These tools will be made available via a web-based interface to support SMEs, OEMs, and sustainability engineers.
Digital Product Passport (DPP) Integration
DIAMETER will develop a modular data layer compatible with upcoming EU Digital Product Passport requirements, enabling:
- Traceability of materials and processes
- Integration of supplier and lifecycle data
- Enhanced product transparency for circular value chains
DIAdemia E-Learning Platform
Our ILIAS-based training platform will deliver:
- 6+ thematic learning modules
- Technical tutorials based on project tools
- Real-world case studies from pilot applications
- Certification options aligned with EU upskilling frameworks
Goal: Train at least 50 professionals in circular manufacturing skills during the project lifespan.
Four Industrial Pilot Demonstrators
Real-world use cases will validate DIAMETER technologies in sectors such as:
- Aerospace components
- Automotive tooling and repair
- Oil & gas equipment
- Environmental and filtration systems
Each pilot will showcase how circular-by-design workflows can deliver measurable environmental and economic benefits.
Monitoring & Impact Tracking
Throughout the project, DIAMETER will deliver:
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on carbon savings, cycle time, and material reuse
- Open-access publications, white papers, and technical reports
- Stakeholder workshops, webinars, and clustering events with related EU projects
All progress will be aligned with Horizon Europe impact assessment frameworks and made available via the DIAMETER website and DIAdemia platform.
